Searching for Life on Mars

Given the evidence of water on Mars, scientists have been conducting various missions to search for signs of life. Some of these missions include:

  • Viking 1 and 2: Launched in 1975, twin spacecraft were the first to land on Mars and search for life. Although they did not find direct evidence of living organisms, they provided valuable data about the Martian environment.

  • ExoMars: A joint mission between the European Space Agency (ESA) and Russia’s Roscosmos was launched. ExoMars aims to search for signs of life on Mars using a rover named Rosalind Franklin. The launch is currently planned for 2022.

The Future of Mars Exploration
